SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition runs on community. Thank you for exploring all the ways to get involved in responding to homelessness in Los Angeles in a proactive, compassionate and effective way. We’re grateful to be your neighbors!

Build hygiene kits
Donate a day of service by building hygiene kits for our unhoused neighbors.
Hygiene kits — a pack of essential daily personal care items like soap, toothpaste and shampoo — are an important way to offer immediate help to our unhoused neighbors with the longer-term goal of building trust and relationships. Building this trust helps us understand our unhoused neighbors’ needs and connect them with services whenever possible.
For more information on how you can organize a group volunteer project, please email Zoe Witt, our operations director, at zoe@selahnhc.org to organize a service day for you and your friends, coworkers or community group.
Send critical supplies
SELAH is responsive to the real-time needs of our unhoused neighbors. Changing weather, policies, resources and circumstances impact what supplies are currently the most critical in the neighborhoods we serve. Consider shopping our always up-to-date wishlist. Items can be purchased and shipped through Amazon or purchased locally and dropped at one of our weekly programs.
Volunteer behind the scenes
We know that volunteering in-person doesn’t work for everyone. SELAH is happy to accommodate volunteers who are unable to attend our programs but want to be involved in the work we do. We have numerous volunteers who help behind the scenes by:
Picking up the hot meal for SELAH service
Creating and maintaining databases of services
Designing flyers and handouts
Translating SELAH materials
Organizing sock/underwear drives with friends
Re-organizing and tidying clothing rooms
If you have a passion, talent or skill that you’d like to harness and deploy for SELAH — throw a concert? film a video for the SELAH site? hold a celebrity softball game? — email SELAH’s volunteer coordinator, Rachel Sanoff, at rachel@selahnhc.org.
