Saying Goodbye to our Echo Park Home

SELAH NEWS: March 2024

February’s storms caused permanent damage to SELAH’s long-time Echo Park site, forcing us to find a new home for our weekly drop-in and outreach programs.

Echo Park United Methodist Church (EPUMC), led by Rev. Wulf, had been home to SELAH’s Tuesday drop-in and Sunday outreach programs since 2019. Together, in partnership with groups like Project Ropa and Shower of Hope, we served thousands of meals, connected people with critical services and hosted hundreds of showers. The loss of this gathering place for our community has been heartbreaking.

We're deeply grateful to the volunteers, government partners and peer organizations who, when storms caused catastrophic damage, organized overnight – bringing trucks and cars and hands and hearts – to help us safely move out of the church.

We’re still looking for our new Echo Park home, so please reach out if you know a community center, business or church that would like to host Tuesday morning programs!

In the meantime, find our Tuesday program in the lot next to Reservoir Tattoo Studio near 1146 N. Glendale Blvd. (Shout out to the Chrysalis Bin for letting us temporarily share this space!)

Thank you to Silverlake Community Church for providing emergency storage, to the Council District 13 Office, and to our dedicated Echo Park onsite and outreach teams, who continue to provide consistent support to our participants every week by storing program resources in their homes, transporting supplies and creating a welcoming space for our unhoused neighbors during a challenging transition.
